Flu and Mixed Messages

UPDATE: August 14 - Czech Republic takes Baxter to task for not guaranteeing swine flu vaccine safety.
Prague – The U.S. pharmaceutical firm Baxter which manufactures a vaccine against the swine flu in its Czech branch will not ensure the vaccine for the Czech Republic in the case of a pandemic, Baxter media representative Jana Cechova told CTK today. The Czech Republic has relied on the factory in Bohumil, Central Bohemia. In its original pandemic plan, the Czech Republic reckoned with vaccines for 60 percent of the population, while the updated plan involves vaccines for 25 percent and the Tamiflu and Relenza antivirotics for the same number.

“No contract for the delivery of the vaccines A(H1N1) between Baxter and the Czech Republic has been concluded,” Cechova said.

The websit tn.cz writes that the Czech Health Ministry has explained its stopping the talks with Baxter by the firm’s inability to guarantee that the vaccine is safe and who will bear the risks for possible side-effects.

“It is a pity, but, unfortunately, at the moment when we accepted the bids, Baxter was unable to confirm that it will deliver a registered vaccine,” Health Minister Dana Juraskova said.

Over 60 Czechs have caught the swine flu, but no fatality has been registered.”

UPDATE: CDC lumps all pneumonia deaths in the same category as flu. WSJ reported that CDC inflates statistics 1500% when covering this topic.
-----------------------------------------------------------
While its full steam ahead on the swine flu and vaccine manufacturing insanity a recent article exposes a critical issue supporting the views opposing the pandemic propaganda, the need for a vaccine, and its news you need to hear.

Just consider these components from of Mike Stobbe's AP Article "Ouch! Early flu shot season comes with 3 jabs"

Ouch! is the operative word here, and please let me know if this isn't confusing:

> Experts suggest you get that first shot as early as this month (August)

> Scientists believe the swine flu vaccine will be most effective if given in two doses, about three weeks apart, although testing is still under way to check that.

> Scientists are just beginning to test the safety and effectiveness of the new swine flu vaccine, work that is expected to take months.

> "I think it's safe to say we expect some confusion," said Kristine Sheedy, a CDC communications specialist.

Well, my suggestion is that you skip the Flu Folly and read more here, here, here, here, and here before you readily give up your body to experimentation.

Retired Vax Scientist Would Never Vaccinate His Kids

The Weekend Warrior Workout

by Sean Barker

Ahh..the end of another workday.

It's 5 O' clock somewhere, so you decide to sneak out a little early because as a busy dad who is committed to staying fit you are looking forward to hitting the gym for a quick workout before you head home to join your family for dinner.

But before you leave the office, your wife calls you to remind you to pick up the kids from soccer practice, drop into the supermarket to get something for dinner, and to pickup her dry cleaning which is on "your way."

Oh, the life of a busy dad. Which means your workout has been blown once again, and this isn't the first time.

So you think how in the hell can I stick to even a simple 3 day a week workout plan?

Well, thanks to The Weekend Warrior Workout, you won't have to.

I know, sometimes life gets in the way of your workouts, but if sometimes because most-of-the-time, you're not going to get the results your looking for no matter how good your workout routine looks on paper.

Rather than suggest you "tell your wife to do it", when she hits you with unexpected errands, I have a better solution..and it won't cost you your marriage!

Why don't we design your workout schedule around YOUR work schedule, opposed to trying to fit it into the common Monday-Wednesday-Friday routine which is the busiest days of the week for a lot of us.

Bring on The Weekend Warrior Workout. Which is a 2 day a week workout plan that only requires 2 back to back workouts on Saturday and Sunday. This program requires that you are willing to dedicate time on your weekends to 2 intense workouts.

Yes...I did say intense because what you miss in QUANTITY, you will make up for in QUALITY. These workouts will not be your 10 minute fluff workouts using soup cans.

These 2 workouts will take at least an hour each and require some real-man hard work and intensity, so don't complain or make excuses, after all, you have all week long to get over it!

I also recommend that you workout in the morning if at all possible for mainly two reasons.

#1 . You won't have any chance of blowing off these workouts if things come up during the rest of the day.

These are your only scheduled workouts for the week so you have to make them count.

#2. You want to take advantage of maximizing your metabolism early in the day so your body will be primed for burning fat and building muscle all weekend long. So if you are going to be a weekend warrior, you have to save your energy for your weekend workouts, so staying out late at the bar with the guys from work when you finish up on Friday isn't going to put you onto the path to being the fittest dad on the playground .

A man's gotta do, what a man's gotta do. So it's time to step up to the plate and knock out the excuses with the Weekend Workout...

Out of all the different workout routines I have done over the years there is one that I keep coming back to, the one that never fails me don't matter how many curve balls life throws my way.

It's called the AB Split.

It's simple and effective and best of all it is easy to work into any busy dads schedule.

You just have two different workouts where you train half of your body one day and the other half the next.

Now the beauty of The Weekend Workout is that you can workout on back to back days, in this case, Saturday and Sunday because you are not annihilating and isolating specific muscle groups.

You will be using the classic compound exercises that work many of your body's largest muscle groups revving up your metabolism to burn fat and increasing Testosterone to build strong dad muscle.

Saturday: Workout A

The Barbell Squat, 5 sets of 5 reps

Flat Dumbbell Bench Press, 3 sets of 8 reps

Bent Over Barbell Row, 3 sets of 8 reps

Close Grip Bench Press, 3 sets of 6 reps

Front Abdominal Plank, Hold for 30-60 secs

High Intensity Interval Cardio:

Use a treadmill and perform intervals for 6 rounds of 30 secs sprint, 60 secs walk

Sunday: Workout B

The Barbell Deadlift, 5 sets of 5 reps

Chin-Ups, 3 sets of 8 reps (Substitute close grip pulldowns if you can't complete 8 chin-ups)

Standing Barbell Shoulder Press, 4 sets of 8 reps

Standing Barbell Bicep Curl, 3 sets of 6 reps

Standing Calf Raise, 3 sets of 10 reps

High Intensity Interval Cardio:

Use a stationary bike and perform intervals for 6 rounds of 60 secs fast, 90 secs easy

*The Mid Week Bodyweight Booster Workout

Yeah I know this is supposed to be a TWO DAY a week workout plan. You CAN make progress on this plan if you only have 2 hours a week to dedicate to some serious lifting.

BUT, if you can find another 15 minutes sometime during the week, do this Mid Week Metabolism Booster Workout with just your own bodyweight to boost that metabolism and get the blood flowing to your recovering muscles that you trashed on the weekend. I would recommend you do this short workout on Wednesday preferably to allow for maximum recovery from your weekend workouts. This bodyweight workout can be done anytime, anywhere, so it's hard to find a reason to not squeeze in this little workout that can make a big difference in burning off that gut and building some strong lean muscle despite your busy schedule.

Prisoner Squats
T-Pushups
Lunges
Cross Body Mountain Climbers
Burpees

Do 10 reps of each exercise without rest. Then rest for 1 minutes and repeat the circuit 3 times.

...As for the rest of the week, try to stay as active as possible, even if it's an evening walk with your wife or wrestling around with your kids in the backyard, because being a strong dad means more than what you can bench press.

How To Focus On Whole Foods To Achieve Optimal Fitness & Vitality

alternative medicine, natural herbs, natural medicine, natural remedies, natural health, natural lifestyle, home remedies

In a world of increased awareness of natural health – achieving optimum fitness and vitality through a focus on whole foods, organic ingredients, and a natural lifestyle – more and more attention has turned to the use of natural herbs in every day life. But while they may be once again gaining popularity, the use of natural herbs dates back to prehistoric times in the use of everything from food to medicine.

A variety of cultures along the way have identified the properties of specific herbs and classified them accordingly. Throughout history more and more natural herbs have been identified as having enormous medicinal benefits and continue to be used today in much the same fashion.

Chili peppers have been shown to reduce pain; nutmeg aids digestion; ginger helps combat nausea and vomiting – the list goes on and on. Whether used to sustain health and vigor or to remedy a host of maladies, natural herbs can be a healthy alternative to many over-the-counter medications; although they should never replace prescription medication for a chronic condition without the supervision of a medical professional.

Of course natural herbs also lend themselves to inclusion in a variety of different cuisines. Depending on the culture, specific natural herbs are used to enhance flavor and augment meals. Ginger, basil, and a host of others add tremendous flavor and health to a variety of meals. The added benefit to using natural herbs in cooking is increased flavor without the use of fats. Cooking with natural herbs can be an extremely healthy way to prepare food.

Another benefit to using natural herbs – whether in food or for medicinal purposes – is the convenience of finding anything you need in a variety of locations. Natural herbs can be found everywhere from the grocery store to local farmers markets to health food stores. Or, if you are so inclined, you can grow your own natural herb garden right in your backyard. Nothing beats the convenience of having natural herbs right at your fingertips.

No matter how you use natural herbs, you will find the benefits to be increased health, overall enjoyment of food, and a renewed focus on a natural lifestyle.

Barbell Training for Gladiators

All you need is a barbell for this workout. Simplicity is often the name of my game, but my priority is getting results fast, and you’re about to experience exactly how to get fast results in developing strength endurance, power endurance and speed!

These exercises are very basic and can be done with the help of a partner or by placing your barbell on milk crates or a few cinder blocks in place of power racks, especially if you’re training in your own home. Your resources don’t need to be anything fancy as you’re about to see.

You will not be training with traditional bodybuilding methods. Instead, you will perform a high number of sets with low reps and minimal rest time. This method is what produces strength and power endurance. The exercises you’re going to perform are the following:

  1. Zercher Squat – wrap a towel in the center of the barbell, using double underhooks, place the crook of your elbows under the barbell, and perform deep squats. Your posture must remain upright and your elbows should remain high. Do not allow the weight to pull your posture down or pull your hands down. Choose an appropriate weight allowing for perfect technique. This movement is awesome for developing takedown strength and overall full body strength. Your upper body will work extremely hard just to keep the barbell in position and of course your legs will be working hard to move that heavy barbell!

  1. Towel Deadlift – Every 2 – 3 workouts you will switch from the zercher squat to the towel deadlift. This will avoid burn out in either movement and still works a similar movement. This is a great way to continuously keep improving strength while avoiding overuse injuries. The towels can be grabbed or wrapped around the bar. Both are excellent for grip and full body strength.

  1. Floor Press – Great for developing pushing strength from your back. If you’re weak on your back, get strong here. This will develop pushing strength and power helping you escape your hips and create angles from the bottom, ultimately making you a better submission specialist from your back! There should be no bouncing of the bar off the floor. Lower the bar slowly as if it were going to touch your lower chest, once your triceps touch the floor, blast the weight upward! Arm Bars anyone?!?!

  1. Barbell Row with Towels – Use the towels if you want added grip work. Wrap the towels around the bar or hang the towels around the bar, each of which give you a different grip and pulling effect. Grips can be overhand or underhand. Keep your low back neutral and your upper back flat, NO rounding allowed. If you round out your back, lighten up until your form is perfect. Your lower body will also work just to stabilize your upper body so this is truly a full body exercise. Pull the weight towards your low abdomen and squeeze your shoulder blades together. This is excellent for developing pulling strength, a must in all combat sports.

  1. Barbell Cheat Curls – No one ever would expect me to encourage these, as many equate this movement to bodybuilding training. This exercise is going to look like a barbell hang clean, except with a reverse grip. It will develop hip power and strength in your entire upper body. Don’t knock these, they work, especially when you push for HEAVY weights! They will also work your hands and grip very intensely, a critical aspect in any type of combat sport using gi as well as no gi.

Here’s your Underground workout:

* Exercises A & B are performed back to back. As your work capacity improves, you should aim to have zero rest through each superset!

1A) Barbell Floor Press 6 x 3 – 5 reps
1B) Barbell Zercher Squat / Towel Deadlift 6 x 3 – 5 reps
2A) Bent Over Barbell Row with Towels 3 x 8 - 12 reps
2B) Any Push Up Variation 3 x Max Reps
3A) Barbell Cheat Curls 3 x 5 reps

No Sun or Too Much Sun

At the same time we hear that children glued to their game machines have very low vitamin D levels, we also get a message saying "stay out of the sun".

We do need exposure to the sun to make vitamin D in our skin, but we also need fat in our diet to allow vitamin D to work properly and the calcium to which it is linked.

Those at northern latitudes, especially in winter, people of color, the elderly and people following religious dress rules need much more vitamin D intake.

So what might this say about sun bed bathers?

Since sun tanning beds are known to have a high correlation with risk for developing skin cancer, you might want to know that vitamin B 15 or DMG (dimethylglycine) and Suma herb are natural treatment approaches.
