Good Muscle Pump vs Bad One

Doberman Dan the author of the Hyper Growth Muscle Mass Training system is sharing an article of his with you today that I think you'll enjoy.

Why There Is Such Thing As A Good Muscle Pump & A Bad Muscle Pump - by Doberman Dan

One of the joys of pumping iron is experiencing the magic feeling of the muscular pump. Right before your eyes your muscles seem to grow.

The feeling of getting a massive pump really is like having good sex, or as the great Arnold Schwarzenegger would say…"Getting a good pump is like coming".

Over the last 10 years there has been a lot of debate over the value of the pump in relation to building muscle tissue. One school of thought argues that the pump means very little so long as the muscle being worked is being sufficiently overloaded with heavy weights and very intense sets. This school of thought would be labeled High Intensity Training, i.e. low sets, high intensity, heavy weights.

The other school of thought swears by getting a massive pump. These trainees use multi-sets, higher reps, more moderate poundages and train somewhat less intensely. This type of training is the most practiced type of the two being used in gyms across the nation.

Who is right, and who is wrong?

While both types of training systems can produce large scale muscular pumps and stimulate muscular growth, they both cause metabolic side effects. So the pump received from these training systems means very little because in the end there is no muscular growth for the vast majority who use these systems.

But this still has not answered the question. Is a massive pump necessary for growing large muscles?

The answer is yes!

The only drawback from getting a massive pump from traditional training methods is the issue of metabolic side effects.

But why is the pump so critical for building massive muscular size?

In order for a muscle to become truly massive it has to be stimulated in two different ways using only one type of system. The training system must stimulate the actual muscle fibers within the muscle itself and stimulate the development and expansion of the blood capillaries, which are part of all tissues of the body.

When a training system can stimulate muscular growth without causing metabolic side effects the next thing it must do is cause a massive muscular pump. Getting a massive muscular pump that is free from growth stopping metabolic side effects is essential for the complete development of a muscle, because capillaries within a muscle will expand and stay expanded providing they are stimulated properly.

By gorging the capillaries with massive amounts of blood on a regular controlled basis you will increase the size of the muscle to a much larger degree than if you only stimulated the muscle fibers.

How much of a difference in size?

Well according to the most recent studies of muscle growth and stimulation, you can increase the size of a muscle by up to 50% more if the proper type of capillary training is used.

The type of training best suited for these requirements is my…….

HYPER-GROWTH MUSCLE MASS TRAINING program. ----- <<< Click Here

It is the only training system in the world today that can stimulate muscle fiber growth and cause massive capillary expansion resulting in a completely developed muscle and it does this without the use of any anabolic drugs.

Any system that causes serious metabolic side effects will not make a muscle grow to its fullest potential regardless of the type of pump it causes because metabolic shock causes muscle capillaries to contract in size soon after the workout is over resulting in a flat stringy look to the muscle.

-----------------------------------

Using the HYPER-GROWTH MUSCLE MASS TRAINING program does not cause metabolic side effects so the muscle capillaries will stay in their expanded state resulting in a full pumped feeling to the muscle long after the prescribed workout is finished.

Don't be fooled by the pump you get from using more traditional type training methods. The pump you get no matter how great it is does not and will not last.

So remember, there is a good pump and there is a bad pump and now you know why!

Here's the link to my brand new training program one more time. If you're a hardgainer like me that is looking to add muscle and lose fat you're going to love it. I'm offering a discounted introductory price though Saturday May 9th. If you don't buy it, no the world isn't going to end. But you will miss out on the cheapest price it will ever be offered for.

The Best Food Sources Of Vitamin D

By Andrew Desjardins

The health advantages of vitamin D are well known. Vitamin D
is crucial in supporting the absorption and depositing of
calcium into our bones, ensuring that bone density and
strength is enhanced, to a large degree preventing diseases
of the bone. Are foods with vitamin D the most important
source of vitamin D?

The most important supply of vitamin D is our own bodies. It
is the only vitamin that is actually synthesized by our
bodies, but it needs sunlight to trigger the synthesizing
process - that is why it is sometimes called the sunshine
vitamin. In some geographic areas people can actually
experience a deficiency in vitamin D because a lack of
sunlight exposure. As a matter of fact, this lack of
sunshine, and the resulting lack of vitamin D, has been
linked to various diseases, including depression.
Foods with vitamin D are one way of supplementing our
bodies' vitamin D requirements.

There are actually not very many foods with natural vitamin
D sources in significant amounts. There are foods that have
been fortified with vitamin D, and these are a valuable
source, although in itself will probably not be sufficient.

The following are known as foods with vitamin D:

Mushrooms (especially Shiitake & Button): Probably the only
source of dietary vitamin D suitable for vegans, these
mushrooms have surprising amounts of vitamin D. They are
also rich in the B vitamins. If you purchase the dried
versions, make sure that you buy those that have been dried
in sunlight.

Mackerel, Salmon, Herring, Tuna, Sardines: - in fact, most
fatty fish that are also rich in Omega 3 fatty acids are
good sources of vitamin D. A portion of mackerel can
actually supply up to 90% of your required daily intake.
Sardines in particular are excellent sources of dietary
vitamin D.

Cod Liver oil: Cod liver oil was one of the first sources of
vitamin D used medicinally for children with rickets. It is
very rich in Vitamin D and omega-3 fatty acids; one
tablespoon of oil a day is sufficient. Research has shown
that cod liver oil prevents osteoporosis as well.

Eggs: Although only containing small amounts, eggs are
another food source for the vitamin.

Liver and liver products are also foods with vitamin D.

Fortified foods with vitamin D: Milk is generally fortified
with vitamin D in the usa, with 98% of the milk supply
containing significant amounts of the vitamin. Read food
labels before making purchasing decisions, as orange juice,
pastries and margarine are routinely fortified as well.

Supplementing your vitamin D intake with vitamin supplements.

It is very important to have sufficient amounts of calcium
and magnesium along with vitamin D supplements.

The health advantages of Vitamin D are incontrovertible.
Most people should get enough of the vitamin with sunlight
synthesis and in their diets. Interestingly vitamin D is
stored in the fat cells for up to sixty days, so strictly
speaking you do not need to ingest vitamin D on a daily
basis. There are excellent reasons to make sure that you
have sufficient vitamin D levels in your system. Look after
your health!

Antioxidants Extend Longevity, Protect Your Health

What really amazes me is the ignorance and stupidity that rules at agencies like FDA and FTC.

With this in mind, just how can you believe what they tell you when the science refutes their position, especially on their new attack on pomegranate juice.

At the same time the attacks go against real food, the nutritional status of food is decreasing rapidly and the need for more antioxidant intake comes from the mouths of FDA paid pundits who really seem never to read the plethora of available science.

You have to guess that they do not think the science is good if they are always on the attack, or that they only want certain sources to produce the science.

Sounds like "bait and switch" to me.

In defense of antioxidants, from such sources as pomegranate, how about digesting this science -

A report published online on September 1, 2010 in the British Journal of Nutrition revealed a protective effect for a number of antioxidant nutrients against all-cause and disease-specific mortality in older individuals over a 13 year average period. "The purpose of the present paper is to explore the predictive significance of a selection of biochemical indices for nutrients that are believed to mediate redox-modulatory (antioxidant or pro-oxidant) functions in living tissues," the authors write. "Evidence that subsequent all-cause mortality may be predicted by vitamin C intakes and/or status has been obtained in several previous studies, and similarly for carotene and selenium."
Researchers at MRC Human Nutrition Research in Cambridge and University College in London evaluated data from 1,054 participants in the British National Diet and Nutrition Survey, which enrolled men and women aged 65 and older from 1994 to 1995. Blood samples obtained upon enrollment were analyzed for plasma vitamin C, retinol, alpha-tocopherol, gamma-tocopherol, carotenoids, zinc, copper, iron, selenium and a1-antichymotrypsin, a serine protease inhibitor that is increased during inflammation. Four day dietary records were analyzed for the intake of these nutrients and energy intake. The participants were followed through September, 2008 and the causes of any deaths were documented.
Seventy-four percent of the men and 62 percent of the women enrolled in the Survey died over the course of follow-up. Increased plasma vitamin C, alpha-carotene, selenium, zinc and iron were signficantly associated with a reduction in all-cause mortality, as was the dietary intake of vitamin C, carotenoids, zinc, copper and total energy. These patterns remained fundamentally similar when deaths from vascular, cancer and respiratory diseases were separately considered, however, increased dietary vitamins C and E were found to confer a significant protective effect against cancer, and dietary vitamin E protected against respiratory disease in males (while carotenoid intake was protective in women). An association of elevated plasma copper and a1-antichymotrypsin levels with increased mortality was explained by the fact that a1-antichymotrypsin and a major copper-containing plasma protein increase during inflammatory states.
"A number of baseline nutrient status indices with ‘redox-modulatory’ connotations appear to predict all cause, primary vascular disease, cancer or respiratory disease mortality in older British adults," the authors conclude. "Future studies should attempt to determine, first, which nutrients are the most frequent predictors of all-cause and specific-cause mortality in different populations, and second, whether these predictions can imply causal relationships, such that dietary or other interventions might promote disease-free longevity."

Shocking Shoulder Workout - I Dare You to Try It

By Doberman Dan

Lets take a closer look at a technique called Triple Drop Pre-Exhaust training and how we can apply it to a shoulder workout.

Pre-exhaust involves using an isolation exercise immediately before a compound exercise to pre-fatigue the muscle without involving the secondary muscle groups. For example, to pre-exhaust the pecs you would do a set of pec-deck or lying dumbbell flyes to failure immediately followed by flat or incline bench press.

The idea is this: The pec-deck or flyes works the pecs without involving the delts or triceps. So although your pecs are fatigued, your delts and tris are fresh so you can further blast your pecs by doing a set of bench presses immediately after the pec-deck or flyes.

I like another technique that utilizes the pre-exhaust idea in a different manner. In this issue let's use shoulders for example. Pick an isolation exercise for the shoulders. I like side dumbbell lateral raises. If you have access to the nautilus side lateral machine then that's a good choice, too.

Select a weight that will allow you to complete 10 to 12 reps of the side lateral raises in good form with the last rep being the last one you can possibly complete without help. In other words, go to temporary muscular failure. Immediately reduce the weight approx. 30% and do another set without resting. Take that set to failure for however many reps you can complete. Again immediately reduce the weight approx. 30% and do a third set without resting. Take this third set to failure for however many reps you can complete.

Now rest about a minute and do a compound exercise for your shoulders. Let's use seated dumbbell presses for this example.

Your shoulders should be fairly fatigued if you performed the side lateral raises as intensely as I described.

Select a weight that allows you to complete 10 to 12 reps of the seated dumbbell press to temporary muscular failure. The weight you'll use will probably be significantly less than you normally use because of the pre-exhaust we did on the side lateral raises.

Now just like on the side lateral raises, complete your first set to failure then immediately reduce the weight approx. 30% and do a second set without resting. Again immediately reduce the weight approx. 30% and do a third set to failure without resting.

This is a pretty intense technique and should probably only be utilized very sporadically. In fact, I would recommend waiting at least 7 days before you train shoulders again after a session of Triple Drop Pre-Exhaust.

Get a Flu Shot, Get Cancer

Since this year the mainstream is pushing flu vaccine with the H1N1 and seasonal flu solutions combined, in an untested combination, consider that your risk is much greater.

Make sure that you understand what informed consent is and how to protect your choice to say no.

This is especially important for women who are pregnant, a.s last year's experiment led to many miscarriages and still births.
excerpt from FLU VACCINES AND THE RISK OF CANCER
"Much concern has been generated over the upcoming new swine flu H1N1 vaccines that are being rushed to market. Clinical trials will be short – less than three weeks – and the potential for the addition of toxic oil-in-water adjuvants to be added at the last minute to stretch the vaccine supply is disconcerting. However, the problems with flu shots go beyond current concerns. The new manufacturing process for flu shots, called cell-line technologies, are little understood and have the potential for serious, long term consequences."  Complete article
Remember that making sure your vitamin D level and vitamin C levels are adequate or higher, drinking adequate fluids, using good hand washing technique, getting good sleep, getting good nutrition - all are safer way s to stay flu free.

Dumbbell Exercises for Women to Tone Arms

By Mike Westerdal

The very nature of women's bodies makes them susceptible to sagging in certain areas-particularly the arms. And unfortunately for the ladies, this can start happening at a relatively young age. The good news is that there are ways to reduce and eliminate almost entirely, sagging in the arms. And the best part is, you don't need fancy or expensive equipment or even a gym membership-you can achieve your goals right in the comfort of your own home with just a few square feet of unobstructed space and a set of dumbbells.

In the world of exercise equipment, dumbbells are just about perfect-they're effective, versatile, inexpensive, easy-to-store, great for targeting specific areas, can be used by anyone regardless of skill or ability and can be used just about anywhere. You don't need to be able to lift heavy weights in order to tone up your arms. A maximum weight of 10 to 12 pounds will do. If you can, pick up a few different weights (5, 10, 12 pounds) so you can vary your workouts.

First of all, warm up before getting started-this helps to prevent injuries. So start with a few minutes of stretching, particularly focusing on stretching the muscles in your arms. Do this for 3 to 5 minutes. You also might want to walk or jog in place for a few minutes to get your blood pumping.

Dumbbell Exercises for Women to Tone Arms Here are some exercises you can do:

  • Seated bicep curl: This is basically the same exercise as above, but performed this time sitting down. Again, keep your elbows close to your side, then curl the dumbbell up towards your shoulder (palm facing the shoulder), pause and contract. Slowly return to the starting position and repeat with the other arm. Do the same amount of repetitions and sets as the previous exercise. Variations: curl both arms at the same time or do hammer curls as described above.

    Alternating Bicep Curl

  • Standing alternating bicep curl: Stand as you did in the warm up, but this time do it holding dumbbells in your hands. Keeping your elbows close to your body, slowly curl one dumbbell up towards your shoulder. Your palm should be facing your shoulder. When the dumbbell is almost touching your shoulder, pause, contract your bicep for a moment before returning to the starting position (keep your back straight and don't swing the weight). Repeat the exercise using the other arm. Do 3 sets of 10-12 repetitions for each arm with a 30-second rest between sets. Variations: curl both arms at the same time. You can also vary this exercise by doing hammer curls. Here, you start in the same position as before but instead of turning your palm up to face your shoulder as you curl up, keep your palm facing inward, stopping to pause and contract when your lower arm is just about parallel to the floor.

Dumbbell Exercises for Women to Tone Arms

  • Standing overhead triceps extension: Holding a (lightweight) dumbbell in your hand, raise your arm straight up over your head, towards the ceiling. Keeping your upper arm in place, bend at the elbow bringing the weight slowly down towards the back of your head (be careful not to hit yourself in the head) until you feel a tight "stretch" in your tricep. Contract the tricep and slowly return to the starting position. Do 10-12 repetitions and then switch arms. Do 3 sets of 10-12 repetitions. Variation: You can also do this exercise while seated.

    Lying dumbbell extensions

  • Lying dumbbell extensions: Lying flat (on a mat or bench), raise your arms vertically up toward the ceiling. Keep your upper arms vertical, slowly lower the dumbbells toward the space behind your head until you feel a tight stretch. Pause, contract, return to the starting position and repeat. Variation: Alternate one arm at a time.

Mix these exercises up, be creative and add in some of your own and vary your routine. As fitness level, skills and abilities improve, you should increase the intensity of the workout by mixing in some aerobics, adding a little more weight, adding other dumbbell exercises (not specifically for the arms but for the whole body), decreasing rest time between sets or increasing the number of repetitions and/or sets.

If you do this for 20-30 minutes a day three or four times a week and stick with it, you will be amazed with the results. Not only will your arms be more toned, but you'll be stronger, healthier and will probably notice that you feel a lot better too.
