Dental X-rays could increase the risk of thyroid cancer

Any X-ray ( ionizing radiation) carries with it a risk of cancer.

X-ray exposure is cumulative and over all carries with it a real increased risk of developing cancer.  This includes medical x-ray, dental x-ray, chiropractic x-ray, mammogram, airport scanners, and EMF exposure from microwave cooking, WIFI, digital TV, cell phone and antenna exposure.
The thyroid gland, in the neck, is sensitive to ionising radiation, especially in children, but the potential risk posed by dental radiography is often ignored, researchers said.
In a study of 313 cancer patients, scientists from Brighton, Cambridge and Kuwait found the chances of developing cancer rose with increasing numbers of dental X-rays.

Oprah and Oz: Maybe their answers are missing something

I happened to notice a link to the Oprah show bulletin broad and their Q & A for Dr Oz having to do with vitamin D, Fosamax, cell phones and irregular heart beat.

What stuck me is that one of the queries posted was by a woman who had been told by her doctor that her vitamin D level at 38.4 was good.

Hopefully her doctor tested for 25 OH or Vitamin D3.  If you'd like to know the range for results, please see this excerpt from my recent issue of herbalYODA Says! - If you're not a subscriber, request a copy with your donation to CHI (www.leaflady.org)
" The base level for vitamin D for both adults and children is 50 nanograms/mL If your level is below 50 then you will use it as fast as it is made, and you may be at risk for deficiency. This is more of a concern for people of color, those who do not go in the sun, those who are confined or live in climates where it is darker in winter, and those who wear clothing that covers the entire body.

Blood serum levels above 80 ng/mL allow for reserve storage. Levels above 200 ng/mL are thought to be toxic. The optimal range at all times is between 50 and 80ng/mL for adults and children."
Often you find that today's doctors are remiss in their ability to interpret lab results according to the most current research. Old levels for Vitamin D are 30, and even our own misguided FDA is considering raising the daily intake to 1000 mg.

This lack is virtually universal for thyroid testing, especially made worse because of the failure to order the correct tests.

Irregular heart beat associated with Fosamax may be related to the fluoride content of the drug which has a negative effect on thyroid function.  Thyroid dysfunction is often a symptom of excessive exposure to fluoride, because fluoride displaces iodine which is a key nutrient for a healthy thyroid. Iodine is also displaced by chlorine and bromine (halogens).

Electromagnetic fields (EMF) created by cell phones do now show that there is a alteration of thyroid function.  This can be linked to irregular heart beat either from EMF (especially when exposed to WIFI) or thyroid dysfunction. This also has implications for an increased risk of breast cancer.

You can order both the vitamin D test and thyroid panel, or other tests, from CHI.  And many states allow you to order your own.  We also provide a service that includes interpretation of what lab results mean for your health.

NB: Our upcoming herbalYODA Says! program on BTR for April will be about thyroid.

The Gall Bladder Misunderstood

-------------------------------------------
Just the other day we heard news of Reality TV's mother of 18, pregnant with 19, and her dealing with premature labor.

Certainly there has been a lot of buzz about this issue, especially references to birth control. Oral contraceptives or estrogen replacement therapy can increase the risk of gallstones.

People magazine has reported that Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar of Arkansas have welcomed Duggar Baby #19 to the family. Josie Brooklyn, weighted 1 lb. 6 oz when she was born at 6:27 p.m. Thursday at University of Arkansas, People reported.
The reality TV show couple star in the TLC reality show "18 Kids & Counting."
TMZ reported the girl was born after her mother -- who was recently treated for gallstones -- underwent an emergency C-Section. Both mother and baby are reporting stable.

While many may criticize the conservative Baptist couple for their public stance against birth control, the Duggar's believe the children are blessings from God. They recently discussed this and other beliefs with Religion News Service.
In the interview, which ranges from Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar's regular "date nights," to strangers' reactions to the large family, Michelle is quotes as saying "Every family has to do what they feel they’re called to do. We’re not out there telling people this is the way everybody else needs to live, because by all means, this is not for everyone. God wouldn’t give everybody 19 children. We realize that there’s a different calling for different people. We’re not about to judge anybody and tell them what they ought to do. That same kindness can be extended both directions."
What NHN would like to highlight is Michelle's gall stones.

A common health issue that can be a problem for women, especially after child birth, and more frequently as women close in on the menopausal years. Oral contraceptives or estrogen replacement therapy can increase the risk of gallstones.

What is commonly ignored in mainstream medicine is that childbirth increases your risk for gall stones, and later for elevated cholesterol along with fat digestion difficulties, and the relationship of these issues to thyroid imbalance.

What we wish is for those in regular every day health care to look for cause rather than booking a cholecystectomy.
Foods That Help To Naturally Remove Gall Stones And Sediment - Take these daily for months, this gradual method should remove even the biggest gall stones.

Start at about 2 level household teaspoons daily of Black Seed Oil move up to one and a half dessert spoons over a period of a few weeks, and maintain for one to two months, thereafter maintain at 2 teaspoons a day for general health and efficiency of the liver. This may be the most effective remedy of the gradual method, may cause very loose bowels for a period of a few days, this is part of the cleansing process. However some persons may be over-stimulated by doses above one teaspoon, but adaptation can occur so experiment to find the best dose for yourself.

Hemp or Olive Oil - Try about two desssert spoons daily
Lecethin granules - Two dessert spoons daily (provides phosphorus)
Turmeric - About half teaspoon daily of the powder
Raw Beetroot juice, radish - 6 a day
Lemon - 1 a day
Lime, apples, pears, grapefruit - 1 a day
Chamomile and cleavers tea
Vitamin C helps break down gall stones, bladder and kidney stones.
Simple Gall Bladder Flush One Day Method - Eat only organic or spray free apples on the day of the flush (or raw apple juice up to one pint) green apples are the most effective, but any type will help. No other food.

At bed time warm two thirds of a cup of virgin olive oil to body heat and mix with one third a cup of fresh raw lemon juice. Slowly sip the entire mixture, and then go straight to bed lying on your right side, with the right leg drawn up. In the morning stones will be passed in the stool.

This procedure may need to be repeated several times for complete clearance of the gall bladder and the liver.
Other methods with herbs and homeopathy also have proven to be quite helpful for gall bladder problems.  The natural menthods may be an option to surgery.

Current thinking is that it is better to keep your gall bladder, appendix, and tonsils.  They aren't your vestigial organs anymore.
